Paul Seetachitt: filmmaker, storyteller, problem-solver… hero?
Paul Seetachitt is a Thai-American filmmaker who loves to help people learn. Paul earned an MFA at Florida State Film School where he was a two-time Coca Cola Refreshing Filmmaker finalist and received a Princess Grace Foundation grant. A few years later, he wrote and directed his first feature-length film, ROCK JOCKS — a sci-fi comedy about a top-secret government facility that shoots down Earth-bound asteroids.
Paul’s other work includes co-writing credits on the action film PRECIOUS CARGO (starring Bruce Willis and Mark-Paul Gosselaar), and an episode of Shudder’s CREEPSHOW, and directing a season of the web series THE BLOCKBUSTER BUSTER. Most recently, Paul produced the acclaimed comedy AMERICANISH, which won 25 awards at film festivals—including Best Director and Best Film—and was acquired by Sony Pictures International for distribution.
Paul’s love of teaching and coaching goes way back. In college, he taught scuba-diving to marine biologists. In his former career as an aerospace engineer (yup, he used to be a “rocket scientist”) he created training modules and instructions for building satellites. He’s also taught swing dancing, and martial arts to children and adults. He has taught film history at Pierce College and screenwriting and directing at University of Florida. These days, he specializes in one-on-one coaching for first-time writer-directors, helping them prepare, problem solve and tell their stories.
Paul is a food adventurer and an avid board-gamer. He co-hosts on two successful podcasts: GAME BRAIN, about board gaming, and STAR TREK DISCOVERY POD, covering current and classic Star Trek. He also enjoys karaoke, and has just about perfected his rendition of “Poor Unfortunate Souls” from The Little Mermaid. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife.
